The process of transforming materials, such that they speak a new language, or tell a new story is central to her practice. This can move through many techniques and forms and is always in response to the nature of the materials employed.
Her training in fashion design, printmaking and sculpture allow Maurice’s work to slide between three dimensional assemblage, installation, stitch work, drawing and printing. Often hovering between 2D & 3D her work may combine crochet & construction, machine & hand embroidery, welding & painting, pinning & paper cut.
Maurice’s obsessive collecting of the discarded, perpetuates her work and defines the new directions it takes.
